Be the one who makes yourself smile

Ask yourself, what makes you smile?

Hey there beautiful person,

I have a question for you …

How many times do you rely on external sources or people to make you happy? Hmmmm, maybe a bit too much? I do know that one way to figure that out is if you are completely alone. No phone, no laptop, no people, just you and you alone.

Being confined in a space of silence where you can only hear yourself breathing is quite hard for many people. This may be TMI, but I find that the shower is that place for me. After a workout, there is nothing better than letting the water run over your body. I have associated cleansing process of how I cleanse my mind as well.

Allowing yourself to face a challenge mentally is something only you can do. Connecting it with emotion (tears, crying and just letting go) takes courage. I know that once you become so use to something and it becomes a habit, it’s hard to re-learn how to find your feet. Whether you are giving up smoking, overcoming a death in your family (I’ve been struggling with this for months), or dealing with separation anxiety, it all comes down to acceptance.

There is no happiness in life without acceptance. There is no true happiness if you cannot be honest with yourself – Sumia Levy

There are many days I lay and question why God took away my grandmother so suddenly. I think about why I am the way I am, I question why I am my worst self critic? Why do I become a victim of people’s cruelty? Why do I not let the world see me, the vulnerable me. Maybe these answers require my own introspection, and that’s the point. It’s an inside job.

Being happy has nothing to do with others, because you cannot enjoy life if you depend on someone else to make you feel complete, to rely on materialistic things to make you feel superior than others, to allow your weakness to make you feel inferior.

Happiness is an inside job. Be the one who makes yourself happy. You come first in YOUR life.

Then only … can you bring happiness to the world and others

Sincerely Sue

Tips for a happier life

The Pursuit of Happiness by Sue Levy

Hey Lovelies,

It’s been a while hey since I’ve been here. I almost forgot that I had this space to pour all my thoughts on.

Today I am 32 and 3 months old (Birthday 26 October). Totally random I know. But still a fact.

The past few week has been pretty interesting. It was filled with happiness, shock, anger, sadness,  jealousy and possibly every other emotion that I can’t remember. It’s all part of being a woman right?

How I got through it the Lord only knows, but what I have learnt is that Joy comes in the morning. Well not the next morning, but in the near future to be exact.

Have you ever been so angry that you just go numb? You refuse to feel anything, so numb you just get through the day with drowning yourself in work so that you do not feel any hurt, pain or disappointment?

But then … then it hits you, the truth. The bloody hurtful truth. (Yoh!)

That is the moment, everything you thought you could suppress just comes out, all at once. It  crushes outer walls you put up for so many days, your dreams, but God knows, it puts things into perspective. That’s the beauty of pursuing your happiness in life is that you will only learn with every disappointment.

They say that

“When the student is ready, the teacher will appear”

Things will make sense once you allow the hurt to leave your heart. No one in this world should be allowed to crush your soul, no one in this world should be allowed to use you, no one in this world should be allowed to mess with your feelings and what you have built up after years, No one.

But sadly, they will.

One of my main regrets in life is giving considerable thought to inconsiderable people. Life is tough. But so are you.

Just never forget to pursue your true happiness. All day, everyday. With every breath, with every tear, with every heartbeat.

Sincerely Sue
