The Sue Review: My Lips love Lip Ice

Today I’m reviewing an old classic. Lip Ice.

It contains all the good stuff to keep your lips soft, moisturized and healthy throughout the day – Sue Levy

The Original Lip Ice has been here since the beginning; it is the original source of lip care and has been looking after South African lips since before you can remember. Since 1965, the REAL Lip Ice has been here to keep your lips moist and help keep you looking fresh. I have fond memories of seeing my parents put a tube in their pockets.

So why should you try LIPICE?

  • It’s suitable for all occasions and lifestyles.
  • It contains all the good stuff to keep your lips soft, moisturized and healthy throughout the day.
  • LIPICE products range from fruity lip balms  and colour lip balm and are available in regular and slim lip care tubes and pots.

So I reviewed the above-pictured range. Here are my thoughts:

I like the tint, it looks pretty.

Lip Ice Cherry

  • A beautiful cherry coloured lip balm at first glance.
  • Application is smooth on the lips, even when lips are chapped, it gets into those grooves and creates a protective film.
  • Leaves lips with a healthy red colour, which makes it look very kissable.
  • By far my favourite as lip-gloss can be sticky, this product is perfect to fit in your pocket and in your purse for a night out.
  • Retails for R18.99

Lip Ice Moisture

  • A good product if you have very dry and chapped lips.
  • I find that after a jog or walk, one is left with very dry lips due to the heavy breathing, this is where this one came in handy.
  • Works best for me when applied before bedtime as it gets time to do its job by filling all the cracks while you are asleep.
  • Gives a nice healthy glow.
  • Application is smooth, has no tint and leaves lips looking supple and naturally healthy.
  • Retails for R18.99

Lip Ice Honey Cream

  • This totally sounds yummy and is part of the Premium range.
  • Smells really good. Good enough to eat.
  • This product contains the good stuff namely: Shea Butter, Vitamin E and Vanilla so it has hydrating properties that leaves your lips less flaky.
  • If you apply to much it does feel a bit heavy, so light application works for me.
  • Retails for R18.99

Lip Ice Men Active (My husband gave it a try)

  • The Joburg/Pretoria weather tends to have a very dry effect on ones body, my husband used this for a while.
  • He liked the packaging, I guess all men love  the dark blue tube cover. So that was expected.
  • Application is smooth and as he says “Better than your usual Vaseline”
  • It contains SPF15 protection, which is needed for the Gauteng dry and hot weather.
  • I think it left his lips looking good, less chapped and absolutely smoochable (giggle)
  • A must-have for men.

In my opinion, the primary purpose of lip balm is to provide an layer on the lip surface to seal moisture in lips and protect them from external exposure. In our case with living in the Pretoria region, the dry air, cold temperatures, and wind all have a drying effect on skin and lips by drawing moisture away from the body. It’s a fact that ones lips are particularly vulnerable because the skin is so thin, and thus they are often the first to present signs of dryness. Hence why keeping lip balm on you is so important.

In Conclusion

It’s a little magic in a tiny tube – Sue Levy

I enjoyed trying out this product, which I think deserves the title of “Old Faithful” but with a modern twist. I love Lip Ice because the quality is good and overall it delivers on its promises for a very affordable price. I guess no one likes kissing someone with chapped lips, especially me. If you’re someone who is licking your lips right now (I just saw you do that, hehe) and they are feeling cracked and dry, I suggest you get yourself a tube of Lip Ice. It’s a little magic in a tiny tube.

The Sue Review: Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant

Welcome to “The Sue Review”

Today i will be reviewing one of my favourite products that I have been using for just over a year. I think all women should atleast give it a try.

Product: Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant

Dermalogica by Sue Levy

One of my favourite Dermalogica Product at the moment.

In 2013 I was introduced to this Brand as a Speaker at one of their events for Womens Month Events. See poster below:

This product is a must-have in everyone’s beauty regime as its a non evasive exfoliator that leaves you will clean and beautiful skin with a natural glow.

Why use Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant?

As its name implies, the Daily Microfoliant is gentle enough for daily use, but don’t go thinking that means it is not effective. It really gets the job done. Unlike most exfoliants, the Daily Microfoliant comes as a powder.

What are the benefits?

  • Can be used daily.
  • Contains bearberry, aspergillis & grapefruit to balance skin pigmentation.
  • Together with rice bran & rice extracts to regulate melanin production.
  • Instantly eases away dead surface cells & impurities.
  • Leaves skin looking marvelously bright & more radiant.
  • Suitable for all skin types (Thats a huge benefit as you rarely find good exfoliants like these)

Why I love it ?

  • I have an oily skin and I wear makeup on a daily basis. After a day at work, coming home to this product just gives me that clean feeling. I have even introduced my husband to it. He loves it! The best part is that it’s formulated without artificial fragrances and colours.
  • It leaves my skin looking marvelously bright & more radiant

How to use it ?

  • Simply mix the fine powder with water, it turns into a foamy cream that polishes skin’s surface with a mix of chemical and physical exfoliators. The rice bran base is rich in phytic acid, famed for its brightening and softening properties. Other actives include papaya enzyme, salicylic acid, and finely ground colloidal oatmeal, all proven to smooth skin and remove debris.
  • The best aspects of this product are that it has nothing artificial in it (Thats so awesome), it works better than any exfoliant I’ve ever used and one bottle lasts between 5-6 months with daily use.

The Price?

The only thing that might have you questioning is the Price. For 75g you would have to fork out R850, so It’s rather pricey (but it really does last for a long time). My advice is that you go to a store that has the products and ask for a sample so that you can use it and see if you’d invest in buying the product.

How would I rate this product?

It definitely gets my approval.

I’m looking forward to reviewing more Dermalogica products in the future.
